CBD LAWS AND REGULATIONS
Do you live in the United States and want to know if it’s legal to buy CBD to treat a physical, mental, or emotional symptom? CBD, which is a non-psychoactive chemical compound found in hemp and cannabis, has been getting plenty of media attention lately as its therapeutic properties continue to come to light.
However, many people do not know there are different forms of CBD, some of which are legal everywhere and others that are highly restricted by drug laws.
U.S. REGARDING CBD LAWS
Though there are federal laws naming cannabis as a Schedule 1 drug and deeming it illegal, each state has its own laws regarding cannabis that apply to those who live there. Currently, there are nine states that have legalized both recreational and medical marijuana.
This means that anyone can go to a dispensary or specialty shop and buy marijuana products including CBD with various levels of THC. Those who live in these states do not need to obtain a medical marijuana ID card and they do not need to show a medical need for the drug.
However, they cannot take any product containing THC over state lines, even to other states that have legalized recreational use of the drug.
